The oldest part of Madrid is called the Austrian and within it is a brand new apartment built in a 17th century building. The Plaza Conde de Barajas and its delightful Sunday art shows are easy to view from the apartment windows, making the Apartamento Conde de Barajas 1 an idealic venue.
If you like a bit of history and culture on your holiday, than you cant do better than to stay at the new apartments in the 17th century building located in the very oldest part of Madrid (the Austrian quarter, so called because the Hapsburgs ruled here at the time your home away from home was built by Gomez de Mora, architect of the Plaza Mayor). Nearby, you can find plenty of shops, food places, bars, tapas bars, and the madrileño favourite, Casa Paco is at the foot of the pedestrian street in front. Also, Hemingway's favourite, Botin, is one block away on the ancient street of the knife makers - "Los Cuchilleros", and is certainly worth visiting. Its an experience you wont want to miss, and one you are sure not to forget. From your apartment window, there is also a lovely view of the leafy Plaza Conde de Barajas and its delightful Sunday art shows. Two other windows look down on the pedestrian street Gomez Mora. All in all, a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.
